With the newest of video gaming consoles came a new lingo that still confounds parents. Once a parent understands the different gaming platforms then comes the task of comprehending the variety of genres that video games fall into. A glossary of video game definitions can help parents in understanding video games.

RPG are Role Playing Games allow for players to be a prominent game character. The player could be a deep sea diver or a warrior princess in a fantasy land.  RPG most likely require a solid internet connection to participate.

VSG – Commonly known as Vehicle Simulation, this genre includes all vehicle types from driving tanks, sports cars and jeeps to flying military and commercial aircraft. Excellent graphics and realistic game controls can be found with VSG. For training and studying VSG are used in pilot school and for the military. For many VSG there are pedals, steering wheels and joysticks to enhance simulation.

CMS – This genre includes video games that incorporate Construction and Management Systems. These games allow gamers to customize diverse civilizations. The main focus of CMS games are profit and economics. Though some may include a military or policing component for protecting the city or country, they typically exclude any warfare play. The focus is on developing a self-sustaining, vibrant community or business. Using building and management skills properly, a player should be able to create and sustain a plausible lifestyle in the game.

Strategy games are either RTS-Real Time or TBS-Turn Based Systems. In real time strategy games, the player must develop strategy “on the fly” as the game progresses, whereas turn-based allows time for the player to analyze the situation, work out a strategy and evaluate possible outcomes prior to exercising their turn. All RTS require computer or internet based platforms. TBS games have more possibilities. With real time strategy video games, players are reacting to a constantly changing environment, developing solutions to obstacles to achieve the best possible outcomes.  It has been theorized that RTS games encourage thinking and problem solving skills.

These three are the most popular video game acronyms. Classifications such as action or action-adventure, warfare, shooting or party games follow the classic definitions, just as movie genres do.

For those of us who long to dive under the deep blue ocean waters, but are physically unable to do so, you can now experience what divers do with Endless Ocean Blue World by Nintendo. Developed for their Wii console, this game brings the undersea world of Mother Earth’s deepest depths right into your home. A deep sea diver can now experience over thousands of fish under water without getting wet. Not only will you get to experience a dive in the deep blue sea, but also in some of the most famous and scary rivers of the world, like the Amazon.

The purpose of the game is to find where the underwater tune originated. Divers and marine animals become well acquainted to make it through this journey. Nintendo programmers have added three hundred species in the game, so prepare to be amazed. The Wii controller has made it possible for gamers to draw whatever they would like on the ocean floor. Divers have the ability to communicate with and feed animals throughout the game. There is even an underwater camera so you can snap shots of your favorite marine creatures.

Ocean Blue World allows the use of a microphone and VOIP to share the adventure with gamers in up to four different locations. At the top of the television is where the microphone should be located. This accessory is available at many electronic discount retailers for less than $30US. Voice messages can be left with any player anytime with the download of the Wii Speak channel. Including the microphone in the game enhances the experience.

The developers of Endless Ocean Blue World wanted to create an experience that was more than lifelike. Creativity and research combine to create an enjoyable deep sea diving experience.

They have included ruins from ancient civilizations and strange aquatic life that could be in the places beyond the capabilities of current exploration. The utilization of 3D graphics make players feel like they are in the ocean. This game could easily be considered the best video game for the Wii.

I sort of do, I have obscure fuzzy memories of inexpensive horror films making an attempt to push SuchandSuchgetsMaimedandMurdered 3D!!!!!! every now and again during the late eighties and early nineties.  Of course, I had no possibility of seeing them at such a tender age, and that superb 3D!  Didn’t carry over to VHS, whether or not they came packed with those delicate paper glasses-you weren’t seeing **.  Latterly Hollywood has been making efforts to bring back 3D in the theater, I guess they have realized that IMAX isn’t that superb as they try and market it.  Unless you like vertigo, everybody has their peculiarities.  I’m going to admit the one thing I saw in theaters with the legendary 3D aspect was  ‘The Nightmare Before Xmas a few years gone, and the sole remotely three-dimensional part was the pumpkin at the beginning making an attempt to psych you up for the excellent 3D!  That was going to slam into your eye sockets.  Needless to say I didn’t expect much after that. 

Now, there’s a steady push in the market for 3D in *television*, particularly in the field of gaming.  I thought it was impossible, that kind of stuff could certainly only be available in, THE FUTURE.  But you can now, in fact drop anywhere from eight hundred-to a thousand on a decent tower capable for 3D computer gameplay.  In a couple of months, the leading company in the field Nvidia will be releasing a 3.5 foot tower with a clear Plexiglas side to show off it’s super power 3D water cooling inside.  Obviously, your going to new hardware if you want to play with leading edge technology.  Which is to be expected, naturally, 3D gaming needs double the framerate the 2D gaming does.  You can technically have it on an older system, but unless you like watching everybody on your screen doing the robot, then it time to start saving.  Or not, like everybody who isn’t an elitist, hardcore pc gamer. 

As for the majority of game players out there who like their consoles, don’t fret.  The slowly reviving PS3 will be seeing a 3D upgrade this summer, and the Xbox 360 is sure to follow.  Even still, you will need a new 3D HDTV that supports HDMI 1.4 to even support that.  Since I really like to assume that many people are like me and do not also have a HDTV ( Ok, I haven’t got a television at all ), we will not have to fret about spending scratch on a new TV simply to keep up with the locals.  Especially since we’ll be pretty much needed to buy a completely new group of games to play, since we can’t be able to play ANY of the games now out there on these new 3D systems, they just do not have the framerate required.  Now, this doesn’t take away from the amazing things I’ve heard about 3D gaming, in fact it could be the future of gaming.  I further said the same about the Wii, but this time I believe I’m right.  I know Microsofts next-gen console will have 3D technology built in, and if that doesn’t change the way we game I don’t know what will. 

As per usual, it will take a bit for 3D anything to become cheap.  And it won’t really become wide-ranging until console’s are pushing it, it will be a few years before we see that.  Not to worry though, remember when DVD players were going for a grand a pop?  I do, and it’s a decade later and you can find a decent one on the sidewalk during Bulk rubbish Night.  If your desperate for some 3D like it 1985 [however ,] imaginary just commented that it’s imaginary Engine will shortly be ready to go 3D with an easy switch flip.  A decent gaming rig with a young graphics card connected up to a 120Hz monitor can handle a large amount of games in 3D at the moment, but Nvidia’s 3DTC Play just commented that soon you’ll be able to catch up a gaming P.C to a 3D HDTV.  In all honesty though, if you are actually going to spend the cash on a first gen 3D HDTV, you can’t overlook a P.C that will 3D GAME.  I do not care how much you loved Nightmare before Yuletide, seeing it in 3D in you living room will never match up to the Awesome that’s playing a game like Bioshock in all it’s 3D glory.
